In practice, most teams don't use a single tool, but a combination of these managed services.
Authentication
User logins are generally one of the riskiest and most maintenance-intensive areas. In a backendless scenario, this burden is delegated to ready-made authentication services. Common examples from a company perspective:
- Firebase Authentication

- Supabase Auth
These services manage password security, token management, and social logins (Google, Apple, etc.) on your behalf. On the product side, they generally only deal with user ID and session information.
Data Storage (Database)
In a classic backend, database setup, backup, and scaling create a separate operational burden.
In a backendless approach, managed data services are used instead:

Data is read and written via APIs. It does not require performance tuning or infrastructure management in the initial stage.

- Customize critical areas as the product matures.
Trying to build a perfect architecture from the beginning often ends up ending most products before they even launch.
Backendless and serverless approaches aren't magic solutions, but when used correctly, they can significantly improve speed.
The key question is:
"In this product, is speed or control more important right now?"
For most MVPs, the real risk isn't choosing the wrong architecture — it's never shipping at all.
